The Value a CFP® Provides You

What is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Why Does It Matter?

Are You Overwhelmed by Conflicting Financial Advice?

Finding a financial advisor you trust can feel daunting. You deserve to feel safe and secure with your financial future... and that starts with understanding who you're working with.

What is a CFP® Professional?

A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional has completed rigorous education, examination, experience, and ethics requirements set by the CFP Board. Did you know – it is estimated that only 33% of advisors in the USA are CFP® professionals as of December 31st, 2025! CFP® professionals are held to fiduciary standards, meaning they are legally required to put your best interests first in their investment advisory services... unlike other types of approaches to financial services.

This is a combined statistic based on the number of advisors reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (326,000) and the number of CFPs reported by the CFP Board (107,529). Number from CFP Board may be less from 2024.

What credentials should I look for in a financial advisor?

Look for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation, which only 34% of advisors hold. CFP® professionals must complete rigorous education, pass a comprehensive exam, have 6,000 hours of experience, and commit to ongoing ethics and education requirements. Additional designations demonstrate specialized expertise.

What makes your financial planning approach different?

We incorporate an educational approach to our financial planning process that is rooted in an understanding that everyone has their own unique abilities and objectives. You may or may not be an expert at personal finance or "numbers", and that is completely okay. We want to take the time to understand your goals and help create a positive mindset around your financial future.

Our streamlined digital client experience through your financial planning portal (eMoney) is designed to create awareness and build a system around knowing what is going on in all areas of your financial life. You get clarity, a proprietary step-by-step process, and ongoing guidance tailored to your goals.

Who do you typically work with?

We specialize in working with clients in various sectors of the healthcare industry and IT/tech/software professionals. A lot of our clients are also small business owners or independent contractors.

Over the years we have gained a deep understanding and appreciation for working with hard-working immigrants who are above the age of 591/2 and are either already retired or are considering retiring within the next five years.

Although there are variations of age groups, industries, personalities, lifestyles, and family dynamics- we have found that generally we all want the same things:

  • For one day making working for money optional (financial security)

  • Not paying more in taxes than we have to

  • Enjoying life and realizing that we always have something to be grateful for

  • To take care of our loved ones while we're here and even after

Most clients come to us during major life transitions or when they want a clearer strategy for the future.

Do you work with clients outside of Illinois?

Yes. We serve clients nationwide through secure virtual meetings and a modern, organized onboarding process. Whether you prefer in-person or fully remote, we make the experience seamless.

What does it cost to work with you?

Financial guidance doesn't always come with a direct cost. It depends on what you need. Some clients choose a comprehensive financial plan, which is a premium service that requires deep analysis and several hours of engagement in the first year. Others come to us for a specific project or need, such as setting up a retirement plan, reviewing investments, or implementing life insurance.

We outline all options clearly during your initial consultation and help you determine the best path forward. Our goal is to tailor the level of service to your situation, goals, and the outcomes you’re trying to achieve.

Can you manage both investments and insurance needs?

Yes. We take a coordinated, planning-first approach that brings your investments, retirement income, insurance, tax strategies, and estate planning together in one place. This helps reduce stress, avoid conflicting advice, and ensure the key parts of your financial life are working toward the same goals.

Our role is simply to guide, organize, and support you with clear recommendations - never to push one product or solution. Clients appreciate having a team that focuses on what’s in their best interest and keeps everything aligned as life changes

What is your investment philosophy?

We follow a disciplined, long-term investment approach that blends innovation, technology, and time-tested principles. Our portfolios are built on a foundation of broad diversification and cost-efficient index strategies, supported by research-driven asset allocation and modern portfolio tools.

At the same time, we recognize that every client’s situation is different. For those who want it and when it aligns with your goals and risk tolerance, we evaluate thoughtful alternative investments and tax-advantaged strategies that can complement a traditional portfolio.

We also believe something important: there is no perfect product or investment. Every option has pros and cons. What can be perfect is the planning behind it — a strategy designed around what you value, what you prefer, and where you are in your financial journey.

Every recommendation is grounded in risk management, personalized planning, and your long-term goals. Our priority is simple: help you grow and protect your wealth in a way that’s smart, transparent, and aligned with what matters most to you.

How does your financial planning process work?

We use a structured six-step Brighter Future Blueprint™ that combines clear analysis, thoughtful strategy, and modern technology. It starts with understanding your goals, your priorities, and where you are in your financial journey. From there, we organize your full financial picture, evaluate opportunities, and design a tailored plan that reflects your values and long-term vision.

We believe planning works best when it’s transparent and collaborative. You’ll always know why we’re making a recommendation, how it fits into the bigger picture, and what comes next. As your life and goals evolve, we continue refining and adjusting the plan so it stays aligned, practical, and forward-looking.

How long does the financial planning process take?

It depends... sometimes it can take a few meetings, and sometimes it can even take a few years! However, typical onboarding takes 2-3 meetings from initial consultation to understanding what the best path forward would be.

Is this right for me if I already have accounts elsewhere?

Yes. Most clients come to us with existing IRAs, 401ks, brokerage accounts, or insurance policies. We help you organize, simplify, and optimize what you already have — without pressure to move anything unless it meaningfully improves your plan.

We would only prefer to work with a client if we can both agree that working together can meaningfully improve their future in some way.

Do you help business owners set up Solo 401ks?

Yes. We design Solo 401ks for owner-only businesses using modern strategies, optimized employer profit sharing, and Roth features when appropriate. These plans are powerful for high-income earners looking to maximize contributions and long-term tax efficiency.

Can you help me choose between a SEP IRA and a Solo 401k?

Absolutely. Both have strengths — SEP IRAs offer simplicity, while Solo 401ks often allow larger contributions and more flexibility. We compare both options based on your income, business structure, and goals to help you choose what best supports your plan.

Do you set up Traditional 401k plans for small or mid-size companies?

Yes. We can provide guidance and advice to business owners on the 401k plan considerations. This can include balancing employee benefits with owner goals, safe harbor type options, match formulas, profit sharing, Roth features and best practices for participant education.

Do you set up Defined Benefit Plans for high-income business owners?

We do set up Defined Benefit Plans. This would be done in coordination with a qualified third-party plan administrator. We can also provide advice and guidance on plan considerations such as investment strategies and long-term planning considerations for business owners.

Can you help with Roth IRA and Backdoor Roth strategies?

Yes. We support Roth contributions, Backdoor Roth strategies, and planning around the pro-rata aggregation rule. Our role is to help you avoid unnecessary mistakes and maximize tax efficiency in a clean, organized way.

Can you assist with Traditional 401k plans for small or mid-sized companies?

Yes. We assist with rollovers from 401ks, 403bs, 457 plans, and other retirement accounts. We evaluate fees, investment choices, tax implications, and whether it makes sense to roll into an IRA, stay in the old plan, or use a new employer plan.

Can you coordinate retirement plans with my CPA or payroll provider?

Yes. We frequently collaborate with CPAs and/or payroll providers to align retirement plan design with business tax planning. This helps ensure your contributions, deductions, and long-term strategies work together seamlessly.

Can a business have multiple retirement plans at the same time?

Yes. Depending on your structure and goals, combinations like a Solo 401k + Defined Benefit Plan or a 401k + Profit Sharing + Backdoor Roth are often possible. We design integrated strategies that help maximize contributions while staying compliant and aligned with your long-term plan.

How do I get started?

Schedule an intro call or zoom meeting. We’ll talk through your current situation, goals, concerns, and opportunities. From there, we’ll outline the next steps and determine whether comprehensive planning, targeted support, or ongoing wealth management is the best fit.
